| ANSTO is a Commonwealth Government organistion which operates Australia's only nuclear research reactor at Lucas Heights near Sydney. The organization has the following aims: to provide expert advice on the nuclear fuel cycle to government and to support Australian national strategic and nuclear policy objectives: to operate nuclear science and technology based facilities for the benefit of industry and the Australian R&D community; to undertake research to advance the understanding of nuclear science, and: to apply the resulting technologies and other relevant unique capabilities to focussed R&D in order to increase to competitiveness of Australian Industry. The Materials Division has a wide range of facilities direct to the assessment and characterisation of materials. Included are mechanical testing machines - including tensile, fatigue, creep and stress relaxation - optical and electron microscopes (both SEM and TEM) and various NDE techniques. The Division undertakes R&D projects and consultancies with industry with costs and agreements being determined on a case-by-case basis |

| HERA is a research organisation of the New Zealand metal-based industries. HERA is the national centre for design, fabrication, welding and machining related metals. One of HERA's goals is to increase the use of steel and other metals based materials through improving productivity and competitiveness of the fabricators. HERA offers assistance in the following areas: structural steel design and construction, fabrication, metallurgy, inspection, quality assurance, productivity improvement, market research, corrosion protection, specialised staff training, technology transfer, codes and standards, tariffs and industry statistics |
